Justice Desk Africa addresses human rights abuses in various communities, including gender-based violence and discrimination, by conducting comprehensive trainings and workshops. These initiatives empower individuals with knowledge, skills, and resources to promote social justice, protect vulnerable populations, and foster inclusive communities. Participants

gain an understanding of their shared responsibility in realizing human rights within their communities. The workshops provide a safe space for discussion and critical reflection, facilitating transformative experiences that challenge unjust relations and inequalities. Skilled facilitators ensure the engaging, exciting, and informative delivery of the workshop material.

Training Topics


The introduction to Human Rights training provides a practical understanding of fundamental human rights principles, empowering participants to identify and enforce rights in their communities. We also explore the distinction between justice and charity, as well as systemic injustice. Our aim is to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to become effective advocates for human rights and drive positive change.

In this module, participants actively learn how to identify community issues, prioritize needs, and develop effective advocacy campaigns. Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, they gain insights into various tactics and techniques for impactful advocacy. Additionally, participants acquire comprehensive knowledge of policy and decision-making processes at different levels of governance.


In this module, participants learn about Everyday Activism and its various forms, gaining practical knowledge on actions they can take to make a difference in their communities. They are equipped with effective bystander intervention techniques to combat harmful behaviours and contribute to safer environments.

These trainings cover the understanding of the causes, types, and signs of gender-based violence, as well as knowing how to respond after an incident occurs. Participants also gain knowledge on the necessary actions, both at personal and community levels, to reduce gender-based violence, including understanding relevant laws and policies. The trainings also address domestic violence awareness and prevention.

Consent and Rape Culture trainings give insight into the concept of rape culture, its impact on individuals and communities, and the significance of consent in relationships. They learn about common myths surrounding sexual assault and are equipped with knowledge of the resources and support services available for survivors. Additionally, participants develop actionable strategies to create safer, more inclusive communities that prioritize consent and respect.

This session provides a comprehensive understanding of

gender justice, women's empowerment, and discrimination, while analyzing various forms of gender-based inequality. Participants learn strategies to promote women's rights, create supportive community environments, and emphasize the importance of gender-sensitive policies and practices across all sectors of society.

Advancing Equality on Men and Gender-Based Violence focuses on understanding the link between harmful masculine norms and gender-based violence, as well as the impact of rigid gender roles and stereotypes. Participants gain insights into the role of men as allies and advocates in ending gender-based violence, and learn strategies to challenge harmful masculine norms and promote positive alternatives.

This session highlights the significance of physical health and movement, while equipping participants with practical skills to enhance personal safety and self-protection. Through the application of key self-defence strategies, participants build confidence and resilience, fostering a sense of empowerment.


Our Mental Health and Overcoming Trauma module delves into the concepts of mental health and trauma, providing participants with practical knowledge and everyday practices to enhance self-awareness, wellbeing, resilience, and self-compassion. Participants also gain awareness on how to support individuals with mental health issues in their communities, while being introduced to available resources and support networks for mental health care.

This module focus on enhancing awareness of children's rights and the imperative of their protection, while providing an understanding of frameworks and strategies to safeguard them from abuse and exploitation. Participants are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify, respond to, and report child protection concerns. Additionally, our trainings aim to raise awareness to child exploitation and abuse, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures.
