EMPOWERING EVERYDAY PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND AND DEFEND THEIR HUMAN RIGHTS
WHAT WE DO
Justice Desk Africa is an award-winning Human Rights Organisation that operates across Africa. We were established in 2013, with the main goal of Promoting the Power of Everyday Activists.
Our mission is to empower everyday people, within all areas of society, to understand, defend and access their fundamental human rights. We believe that the everyday person understands their community and unique contexts like no other, and therefore are best suited to challenge the injustices that affect them and work towards transforming their communities for the better.
The everyday person has immense power, and therefore responsibility, to lead incredible, sustainable and impactful change - and it is our mission as JDA to educate, equip and empower them on their journey to do just that.
We do this through empowering and equipping local people with the necessary skills, tools, knowledge and platforms to lead their own change, through a variety of training and education opportunities, national and international lobbying initiatives, as well as community-led empowerment projects.
OUR FOCAL AREAS
Empowering girl survivors of rape and gender-based violence
Building a generation of young changemakers
Mentoring young boys to become pillars of hope
#ARMYforMbokodo is an initiative to create a network of BTS ARMY across the world to help and support our mission to end gender-based violence in South Africa. Since South Africa has the highest rate of gender-based violence cases globally and we're currently experiencing femicide where a woman is murdered approximately every 3 hours.
Through our Big Sister Program we're looking to form a community of BTS ARMY members to support our Mbokodo girls through their journey to become change-makers and leaders within their communities.
We have impacted the lives of over 2 million people across Africa and we want YOU to be a part of it! Join us and become an Everyday Activist.
