On the 12th of October 2022, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation invited fifty of The Justice Desk’s project participants, between the ages of six and eighteen, to a vision clinic. At the clinic, each young person received a free eye examination and, if needed, free spectacles. This was an amazing opportunity for our participants, as many of them have limited access to vision care and awareness of vision issues in their communities. According to OneSight, good vision is a basic human right, yet uncorrected poor vision affects 2.7 billion people around the world.

We are therefore extremely grateful to OneSight for providing our young people with the vision care they needed and contributing to The Justice Desk’s goal of raising a generation of everyday activists and human rights defenders. In addition to the eye tests, OneSight also provided our children with a free T-shirt, bag as well as delicious and nutritious meals throughout the day.

There were also various activities and games that kept our kids engaged and having fun while they waited for their turn to undergo the eye test. All-in-all, this was a fantastic day for all involved. 22 children ended up receiving free spectacles and will now have their basic human right to good vision restored.
